The DefendAir has been discontinued. Please contact AFC International for other options.
The DefendAir is designed for over 30 minutes or more of protection against toxic gases (including nerve agents, blood agents, tear gas) that may be encountered by first responders, law enforcement or emergency response personnel. The hood is easy and quick to don - especially in an emergency situation. Donning time is less than 10 seconds.
Communication is clear since there are no mouthbits or nose clips required. With an integrated half mask, the wearer can breathe and speak normally to provide life saving instructions required in these situations. The hood is designed to provide maximum protection against the hazards by providing a 1000 protection factor and effective filtering capability and protection from CO2 build up. And the hood can be worn even by those who wear glasses of have breads or long hair.
Extensive testing such as shock and vibration package impact tests, visor fogging tests and low temperature tests ensure that the DefendAir is ready to use. DefendAir has an integrated combination canister. The canister's NIOSH approved P100 filter is the appropriate media for filtering biological, radiological and nuclear agents. Additionally, a layter of ASZM-TEDA carbon is included to filter gas and vaprs (e.g. chemical warfare agents.)
