Sensor Specifications for Draeger Pac III, MiniWarn and X-am Gas Detectors

These sensors are designed for use with Draeger Safety gas detectors including the single gas detector; the Pac III and their multi gas units; the MiniWarn, X-am and X-am 7000.

DraegerSensor XS

DraegerSensor XS Sensor

There are currently 25 different XS sensors available that can measure over 50 different gases and vapors. XS stands for "eXtra Stability", meaning these sensors require less frequent calibration than competitive sensors. XS sensors are intelligent sensors that can be interchanged between the Pac III, MiniWarn, MultiWarn II and X-am 7000 monitors. All sensors-related data, including measuring ranges, calibration, alarm set points, etc. are stored in the sensor memory and transferred to the next instruments. XS sensors include advanced technical features such as internal temperature compensation, outstanding pressure compensation and user-changeable internal cross-sensitivity filters. These improvements provide more accurate measurements than other brands. The CO, H2S, and O2 versions of the XS sensors carry a 3 year warranty and only require calibration on an annual basis.

DraegerSensor XS-R

DraegerSensor XS-R These are the latest generation of intelligent electrochemical DraegerSensors. They are available for CO, H2S and O2 and may be used in the Pac III, MiniWarn, X-am and X-am 7000 monitors. XS-R sensors offer all of the technical advantages of the XS Sensors but feature a 5 year warranty.

DraegerSensor XS-2

DraegerSensor XS-2 The basic sensor in the Draeger instrument line for CO, H2S and O2, the XS-2 sensors are intelligent sensors and can be used in the MiniWarn, X-am, X-am 7000 and Pac III instruments. XS-2 sensors all carry a 2 year warranty. The XS-2 sensors replace the PS2 sensor as the best basic sensor offered by any gas detection company.

DraegerSensor XXS

DraegerSensor XXS
With the new small DraegerSensors XXS, Draeger Safety's sensor technology takes a leap forward offering high measurement performance in a small space. Through the constant further development of approved electrochemical principles and a combination of new miniaturised design elements, the volume and weight of the sensors has been drastically reduced. High sensitivity and selectivity to the gas being measured, combined with excellent long time stability and fast reaction times, give the user a fast and reliable warning about gas dangers.

Draeger Catalytic Ex-Sensor

Catalytic Ex-Sensor
The Draeger Catalytic Comubstile Gas Sensor will measure a wide range of combustible gases and vapors. All combustible gases that are readily oxidized by the catalyst will respond to the sensor, but at different sensitivities. The sensors are suitable for use with MiniWarn, Pac Ex II, X-am 3000 and X-am 7000.

Infrared Sensors

The Draeger Infrared sensor (exclusively for the X-am 7000) is a transducer for the measurement of the partial pressures of flammable hydrocarbons or carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This sensor works on the principle of the absorption of infrared light. The gas to be measured reaches the cuvette by means of diffusion or a pump. The sample is illuminated in the cuvette through a small window with a broad-band infrared light source. This light beam is reflected and focused onto a beam splitter which is divided into two beam components. One beam passes through an interference filter (the measurement filter) into the housing of the pyroelectric measuring detector and is converted into an electrical signal. The other beam passes through the reference filter to reach the reference detector. If there is a hydrocarbon or carbon dioxide present, the relative intensities of these two beams are changed because of one is partially absorbed by the gas. This change in relative intensities is amplified by electronics and converted into the value in the display. Infrared Sensor

Smart IR-CO2

The virtually unlimited life of IR sensors allows continuous measurement of CO2 without cross sensitivity problems over a wide range of concentrations for the life of the instrument. The standard measurement range is 0-5 Vol % CO2. The measurement range may be adjusted to a minimum of 0-1 Vol % up to a maximum of 0-25 Vol %. The smallest resolution is 0.01 Vol % CO2. Additionally ppm measurements are possible.

Smart IR-EX

The infrared sensor can accurately measure the 0-100% LEL range of many hydrocarbons such as propane. Additionally ppm, Vol % and even TLV measurements are possible for many toxic or explosive hydrocarbons. Methane measurements are possible in the 0-100% LEL as well as 0-100 Vol % ranges with the IR ex-Sensor. The IR Ex-Sensor responds only to hydrocarbon bonds and is therefore not subject to cross sensitivity problems with other types of Ex-gases. Furthermore, the IR Ex-sensor can measure in inert atmospheres because unlike catalytic Ex-Sensors, the IR Ex-Sensor needs no oxygen to function.

The detection of numerous gases and vapors containing hydrocarbons components is made possible by means of well defined cross sensitivities to propane.
